Two women support each other over the course of a summer to overcome their grief in this film from the German director of Barbara and Phoenix, which fascinates with its extreme simplicity.

A woman is repainting her fence on the side of a country road when a red convertible drives by with a young couple inside. The passenger, Laura (Paula Beer), seems caught by the woman's gaze. A little later, the car turns back in the other direction. The two women look at each other again, as if they knew each other. Once around the bend, the accident occurs, of which we only see the impact. The driver dies, and Laura, unharmed, is taken in by Betty (Barbara Auer), the woman with the paintbrush, who surrounds her with maternal affection without any need for explanation between them.
